How to choose spray hoses for ultrasonic nebulizers: four selection points

Short answer: a nebulizer spray hose lives under triple duty - continuous vibration, repeated bending and liquid conveyance. Selection must satisfy four conditions at once: fatigue resistance, bore stability, a smooth inner wall and safe material; miss any one and the hose cracks, leaks or coarsens the droplet size.

Point 1: fatigue resistance - small bending radius

Neulizer vibration travels into the hose, keeping it in a state of high-frequency micro-bending. The smaller the minimum bending radius, the more bend cycles per length. Medical-grade double-wall PVC corrugated hose reaches a radius roughly equal to its OD (e.g. OD 34mm bends at 28mm), far better than rigid solutions.

Point 2: bore stability - the precondition of consistent atomization

Droplet size distribution tracks the stability of air/liquid flow inside. A uniform wall (about 0.65-0.7mm) keeps the inner diameter constant along the full length, avoiding local throttling that would fluctuate the mist output. Check the OD tolerance and wall-thickness marking before buying.

Point 3: smooth inner wall - less residue, faster cleaning

A smoother bore holds less drug residue, lowers cross-contamination risk and dries faster after cleaning - one reason medical scenarios prefer the double-wall type: smooth outer coating outside, smooth bore inside.

Point 4: material safety and structural reinforcement

Hoses in indirect contact with medication should be cadmium-free (BGR 132) and tensile-reinforced against pull-out. The plastic-coated elastic steel helix with axial/radial fibre reinforcement covers both tension and crush resistance.
